Camping CabinsTM are timber building manufacturers based in Derbyshire, UK. Along with our sister companies – Arctic Cabins, Cabins for Schools and Cabin Master, we have been providing families, schools and businesses with high quality timber buildings that are hand built since 2002.
It was the late 1990s when Gareth first met his Finnish wife and became interested in the wonders of Scandinavian BBQ Huts – also known as Kota Huts or GrillKotas. He could see that the British climate was perfect for these unique cabins, as they fit perfectly in the average UK garden and allow the British to BBQ all year round. He launched the business in 2002 and the Arctic Cabin brand was born. The business went from strength to strength and, despite many people imitating the design, Arctic Cabins remains the market leader and the only supplier to own the Trademark for our BBQ Cabin sloping wall design.
With the rise of the glamping industry, Arctic Cabins were increasingly approached by campsite owners looking for buildings to help them stand out from the crowd. Gareth could see the potential in modifying the BBQ Cabin design in order to create cabins that could be slept in. The Camping Cabins brand was born!
The Scandinavian Cabins evolved, we replaced the BBQ Grill with a Solar pipe which opened up the circular building to create a brilliant alternative to a Yurt or Bell Tent. We added insulation and partitions for en-suite bathrooms or kitchenettes. The cabins have been connected to create bespoke luxury lodges and extended to increase the capacity of the cabins.
We didn’t stop there; increasing demand meant more design options and we extended our services to include Timber Shelters, Toilet Blocks, Shower Facilities, Reception Buildings in addition to the Camping Cabins, Lodges and BBQ huts.
The nature of the building design and materials we use results in timber structures that will withstand a more harsh environment than the British weather could throw at them. Made from sustainable FSC/PEFC certified Timber Slow-grown Scandinavian Redwood, Canadian Cedar or Marley Board and using superior roof systems, we have installed buildings across the UK and Scottish Isles.
